What is an optical filter?

Filters, able to selectively allow certain wavelengths of light to pass through, are accessories installed under the lens to filter light.

  1. UV Filter: Reduces ultraviolet light entering the lens and is often used as a protective filter to safeguard the front lens element.

  2. Polarizing Filter, also known as a PL filter, can eliminate reflections and enhance color saturation.

  3. Neutral Density Filter, also known as ND filter or light reduction filter, can prolong exposure time or enable correct exposure with wide apertures in bright light conditions.

  4. Graduated Neutral Density Filter, also known as Graduated ND filter, can handle scenes with high light contrasts.

  5. Warm-up Filter: Warms up skin tones
