What is a telecentric lens
The telecentric lens is mainly designed to correct the parallax of traditional industrial lenses. It can maintain the magnification of the image within a certain object distance range, which is very important when the measured object is not on the same object surface. application. Telecentric lenses have always been favored in machine vision applications that require high lens distortion due to their unique parallel light path design.
The purpose of the telecentric lens is to eliminate the difference in magnification caused by the inconsistent distance of the measured object (or CCD chip) from the lens. According to the design principles of telecentric lenses, they are:
1. The design principle and function of the object-space telecentric optical path: The object-space telecentric optical path places the aperture diaphragm on the image-space focal plane of the optical system. The object-space principal ray is parallel to the optical axis. The convergence center of the principal ray is located at object-space infinity. Far, it is called: the distance between things and the light path. Its function is: it can eliminate the reading error caused by inaccurate focusing of the object side.
2. Image-side telecentric optical path design principle and function: The image-side telecentric optical path places the aperture diaphragm on the object-side focal plane of the optical system. The image-side principal ray is parallel to the optical axis and the convergence center of the principal ray is located at the image-side infinity. Far, it is called: like the distant heart light path. Its function is to eliminate the measurement error caused by inaccurate focusing of the image side.
3. The design principle and function of the telecentric light path on both sides: it combines the dual functions of object-side and image-side telecentricity. Mainly used in the field of visual measurement and inspection.
The main characteristic of telecentric lenses is that telecentric lenses are different from traditional lenses in the concept of field of view. All the principal rays entering the telecentric lens are parallel to the main optical axis, and the telecentric lens has its own fixed object distance. There is a greater depth of field in the front and rear range of the object distance. Because the incident light is parallel to the optical axis, even if the object distance changes within the depth of field, there will be no change in magnification, and there is no optical parallax within the entire depth of field.
